Ah, midweek football. Floodlights, great atmosphere, passing football, entertainment.
None of which were on show at Pittodrie last night (albeit the floodlights, but that was hardly any consolation).
Bring a Buddy to the Buddies was the tagline. I'm so sorry for my workmate Steven who came along last night (although he is a hun, so he probably deserves it). But anyway, that's besides the point. We may have had the tagline but we certainly missed the punchline.
On a more serious note, I had to defeat the rumblings growing that I was the jonah. No wins seen at all this season. Thankfully that myth was destroyed with a resounding whimper last night. Leaving only Duncan yet to see a win this season.
Despite feeling like death, I stepped out the flat door to a chorus of rain and was soaked by Urquhart road. I did try the 'match special' once inside the stadium however. A chicken pie (still gave me heartburn though, the swines). The Bovril helped to keep the cold out mind you.
The match itself was delayed by 10mins due to road blockages, but they need not have bothered, a mighty crowd, just shy of 10,000 was there for the impending football masterclass.
The first half was, how can we say.... forgettable to say the very least. Along with freezing. Summer football please. The only things of note I can remember were the linesman getting clattered and Lee Miller being unlucky with a great free kick not long before half time.
He really has been one of the few positives this season. I've been saying it for a while but I think he's got the best touch in the team by a mile. Makes good space for himself and brings other players into play well. All he needs to add are a few more goals to his game. Although in saying that he was unlucky last night and on another day would have had a hat trick on Saturday.
But I digress. The second half of total football at Todders last night was.... even worse than the first. So i'll skip to the goals.
Good play on the wing from Severin (I did just say that, yes) and a great touch from Kerr followed by a good cut back to big Andy Considine who produced a tremendous finish.
The second was on the break, Aluko beat the offside trap and slotted home with ease. Darren Mackie, please take note.

Next up, Hibs at Easter Road. There was talk of going..... but I think I'll pass.
Season ticket count for last night.... 5 out of 6. We may get the full compliment at some point this season.

In fairness to Young he wasn't wearing his wet weather tyres so can't be faulted for falling over everytime the ball came near him, Jimmy should've pit stopped him a lot earlier, perhaps during the warm up...
Miller is awesome, only player that gets pass marks for me every time, I love his strokes, such beautiful locks.

I'll have to get some wet weather tyres for myself.... might stop me looking like Derek Young on the pitch.

Miller is becoming close to being the new McNaughton....and by that I mean I would possibly, just maybe....bone him due to his delightful nature on the pitch!
